A1 Team Malaysia Supports Proton
At 2006 KL International Motor Show A1 Team Malaysia team’s car will be a prominent feature on the Proton stand at the KL International Motor Show from the 26th May to 4th June at the Putra World Trade Centre.
The A1 Team Malaysia car driven to victory by Alex Yoong at the Shanghai International Circuit on 2 April 2006 is currently in Malaysia and from 26 May to 4 June can be seen on the Proton stand at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show.
A1GP chassis number 41 was used throughout the inaugural A1 Grand Prix World Cup of Motorsport season at circuits in 11 countries on 5 continents. The car was driven by both Alex Yoong and Fairuz Fauzy resulting in A1 Team Malaysia finishing 5th overall in the World Cup of Motorsport.
Yoong says of the KL International Motor Show, “When Proton approached us and requested our car be featured as part of their stand at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, we felt that it was a good opportunity for the Malaysian public and the Malaysian automotive sector to see the car with their own eyes. We are very proud of our achievements in the first A1 Grand Prix season and want to share that feeling with our supporters and fans. This is another way of exposing the race car to many people. I own a Proton Waja and my first ever car was a Proton. I hope that many attendees to the show will enjoy seeing the Proton stand encouraging them one day to be an owner of a Malaysian built Proton.”

Proton makes superb cars and we hope that the A1 race car and the team personnel in attendance will assist in raising the levels of awareness of the Proton brand ultimately to sell more Proton cars.”
The A1 Team Malaysia show car will be on the Proton stand in Tun Razak Hall 1 for the duration of the show.
